REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera Review: Classic Meets Cutting-Edge

REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera Review: Classic Meets Cutting-Edge

As a team of seasoned car tech enthusiasts here at Retro Tech Drives, we recently got our hands on the REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera for Cars and we have quite a lot to share. As we always do, we combined the elegance of classic style with the utility of modern technology in our testing, and we were pleasantly surprised with the result.

Right off the bat, we were impressed by the camera’s exclusive feature offering both front 4K and rear 2.5K resolution. Coupled with a built-in HI-SILICON chip, the device delivered crisp images and videos from both front and rear dash cams. Also, its six-layer glass lens provided notably enhanced night vision in darker environments.

A standout feature was the camera’s WDR+HDR super night vision. The WDR + HDR technology excellently enhanced night time visuals, with the high-sensitivity sensor capturing video with sharp and vivid color even in less light. This resulted in a safer and more secure driving experience and significantly reduced the blinding glare from car headlights.

The REDTIGER camera also boasted an 11″ UHD Touch Screen that caught our eye. With upgraded technology, this 11-inch screen offered a 440×1920 resolution, with an intelligent screen split function that allows simultaneous observation of the vehicle’s front and rear dynamics in real time — a feature we found very useful during hands-on testing.

We were particularly satisfied with the range of additional features, including a 24H parking monitor, G-sensor, guidelines, and loop recording. The parking monitor worked impressively, acting as a surveillance camera system when the vehicle was off for up to 48 hours.

However, in our experience, the camera was not without flaws. Some of the team members found the display screen to be a bit too overstimulating, causing mild distractions at times. Also, we noticed that the device failed to live up to the night vision capability as marketed, especially in areas with minimal lighting. On the upside, we believe future iterations of the product could show improvements in this area.

Past minor discrepancies, one of the highlights of our experience with this product was the customer service quality. We got a feel of the manufacturer’s promise of prioritizing consumer needs with its 1-year warranty offer and a highly responsive customer service team.

As for mounting, we decided to mount the rear camera inside at the top of the rear windshield, which gave us a much broader and clearer view compared to the traditional rearview mirror. The quality of sound and resolution was impressive, and the touchscreen made navigating the controls pretty convenient.

In terms of analytical feedback, while the current panoramic lens captures license plates clearly during the day, it was a struggle to do so from afar. But this is a minor setback considering the feature is most needed during driving emergencies, which the camera easily handles with its one-touch emergency record and lock function.

One of the slight downsides we noted was a bit of glare at night, but this in no way detracts from the array of quality features the camera boasts, like the quick animations and slide/motion gesture controls on the touchscreen.

In conclusion, we at Retro Tech Drives found the REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera for Cars to be a product that bridges the gap between modern convenience and classic aesthetics. Despite a few minor shortcomings, its high-resolution camera, advanced features, and the manufacturer’s commitment to consumer satisfaction make it a decent investment for any car tech enthusiast.
