SEALIGHT 9006/HB4 LED Fog Light Bulbs Review – Retro Tech Drives

I must say, it was a gamechanger when we spruced up a 2014 Buick LaCrosse with the SEALIGHT 9006/HB4 LED Fog Light Bulbs. The philosophy of ‘you get what you pay for’ was underscored with a blue tint that might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but certainly did offer an interesting aesthetic twist.

European vehicle owners, however – keep your receipt. You should plan for the added task and cost of procuring a separate decoder for these lights, which was a bit frustrating to discover. They performed fantastically on a 2010 Audi Q7, but were not totally compatible, causing consistent dashboard warnings about blown bulbs.

Delving into the brightness, the SEALIGHT LEDs took us by surprise. On a chilly evening, we replaced older HID bulbs on a 2020 Ranger. Though not as bright as the HIDs, they sure did an impressive job compared to the factory lights. And the best part? Installation was quick and a breeze – just about 2 minutes!

For DIY enthusiasts, the upgrade from factory to these ones couldn’t be easier. Test drive on our 2020 Honda Odyssey assured us that these are indeed worth every penny. The fog lights provided absolutely full coverage around the perimeter and illuminated the road brightly with zero dark spots. How severe the weather gets, these LEDs had our back!

We received many queries on whether these LED bulbs are suggested for headlights. Based on our experiences, we’d like to point out that these SEALIGHT LEDs work great as fog lights but might not be the perfect fit as headlights.

An area of concern for us was the housing of these bulbs. While bright and easy to install, they come in lightweight plastic housing, making us question their longevity. But these lights were still shining bright in a 2013 Altima a year after installation. So, we’d say give them a go!

As we tested multiple cars and trucks with these SEALIGHT 9006/HB4 LEDs, not once did we experience any disruption to the radio environment. The built-in smart IC driver ensures there’s no flicker, no interference which makes every ride comfortable.

All in all, this product punches above its weight, offering higher light output than most halogen bulbs and fitting almost seamlessly into existing housings. Yes, the packaging might be minimalistic, and the product might not feel robust physically, but the luminosity it offers is certainly at-par with more expensive LED bulbs.

With over 30,000 hours lifespan and the ability to offer 360-degree illumination with 27 LED chips, these LEDs may just be the cost-efficient alternative you’ve been looking for, presenting a good balance between durability, brightness and price.
